Architectural Salvage Conference May Be in the Works
Eric Nordstrom, owner of Urban Remains and the bldg. 51 museum in Chicago, is planning an architectural salvage industry conference or trade show there this winter targeted to the industry, architects, designers and the general public.
“I want to have an exhibition of sorts with trade lectures and or symposiums, workshops and company informational-product booths,” Nordstrom explained. “It would likely be a two-day event with an emphasis on lectures, ‘shop talk’ and exhibits or booths representing various salvage companies from around the country. Since no one has brought the industry together, I figured this would make for a great litmus test to determine whether potential participants would come together to share ideas and experiences to help us all better understand and coalesce around our industry and to better communicate with educate our clients. the feasibility of such an event - which is still in its infancy, is highly contingent on who is willing to participate, but i feel we as an industry need to start somewhere as it’s long overdue.”
Anyone interested in learning more about the event is encouraged to contact Nordstrom at Urban Remains.
